S. E. Curdy, secretary and treasurer of Hadley Bros Manufacturing Company of Westminster, Grand Traverse County, is a native of Oakland County, Michigan, born 1846; was brought up a farmer, and engaged in that occupation on the family farm until 1873, when he went to Grand Rapids and into the employ of the Grand Rapids Chair Company with whom he remained eight years; the latter portion of that time being in charge of shipments. 

He then aided in the organization of the Valley City Manufacturing Company of which he was for three years both secretary and treasurer.  He took his present position at Hadley Bros of Westminster upon the organization of the company in February, 1884.  His family consists of his wife and two children.
